Jun 24, 2015 · We visited the HullRust Mahoning Mine on Sep. 29, 2008. It is said to be the largest open pit iron mine in the world. A convenient viewing area is provided overlooking the mine. One can watch the vehicles and activity far below. There is a small visitors center with a gift shop staffed by volunteers.
